Wits' youth development program products, Brad Phillips and Zaid Patel, are still training with the club. However, the pair are no longer involved with the first team as it is reported that they do not feature in Gavin Hunt's plans.
Left back Phillips has been with the club since 2010 and has made only a handful of appearances for the first team. Patel, a striker, signed a deal with the club in January 2012 but never really established himself as a first team regular.
Wits' Assistant Coach, Paul Johnstone, explained the club's position on the two players.
He said, "There was also a big turn around in players when Jose Ferreira (Wits CEO) came in. So these guys are not with the first team setup at the moment but as far as I'm aware, they're still being paid by the club.
"They're not in Gavin Hunt's plans at the moment. In terms of their contracts they'll still get paid but they'll be free agents, so if a club comes in for them then they can go.
"They've been involved with our development side in the Castle League. They've also seen game time for a team Fabian McCarthy is coaching."
