Ajax Cape Town striker Prince Nxumalo is set to make his return to Roger de Sa’s side tonight after being sidelined by an injury which kept him out the Urban Warriors' first Absa Premiership encounter.
The club’s top goal-scorer sustained a hamstring injury during preseason, at the same time that he received a call-up from Bafana’s head coach Shakes Mashaba for international duty.
Subsequently the player had to be withdrawn from the Bafana squad, and was unavailable for the club’s first Absa Premiership encounter away to Baroka FC on 23 August.
Now the club has confirmed that Nxumalo will be available for his first competitive match of the season.
“Prince Nxumalo and Mark Mayambela have both recovered in time to be fit for this evening’s clash,” the club confirmed on their official website.
Ajax Cape Town will host Orlando Pirates tonight, 13 September at the Cape Town Stadium, with the match scheduled to take place at 19:30.
It remains to be seen whether Nxumalo will be introduced in the game tonight, having played his last competitive match in May when the team faced Maritzburg United in their final away encounter of last season.
Nxumalo scored 13 goals last season, one goal short of being tied with the 2015/16 PSL top goal-scorer, Collins Mbesuma, who walked away with the golden boot for scoring 14 goals.
The player will look to begin his campaign on a high tonight as he prepares to come up against former teammates, Abbubaker Mobara and Riyaad Norodien.
