Mbesuma: That's What Keeps Me Going

Veteran striker Collins Mbesuma has made a bold statement on why he continues to play at a professional level, as he pointed out the low scoring rate in the country.

The 37-year-old Mbesuma joined his 10th Premier Soccer League club when he signed for GladAfrica Championship outfit Pretoria Callies before the start of the new campaign, after a successful stay with University of Pretoria.

Mbesuma was brought in by coach Joel Masutha, having previously worked with the Zambian forward at Maccabi.

"I can't run like before, but there is something which God has given me, which is to score goals. You know in South Africa we are not scoring a lot of goals. I think that's what keeps me going because I know I can score goals. In the two seasons I was at University of Pretoria, I scored more goals than anyone else. Age is just a number," Mbesuma told the Siya crew recently when he was unveiled as a Callies player.

"I just want to keep going year by year and see how my body feels. I am in shape, so it's the passion that keeps me going," Mbesuma told the Siya crew.

As a senior team, it's not only about playing. Also, you have to guide the young ones."
