Prague Explain Ritchie Move

Czech Republic football giants, Slavia Prague, have explained why they are so keen to bring in Kaizer Chiefs defender, Keegan Ritchie, into their squad. The 17-time Czech league champions are reportedly keen to add reinforcements to their defence and have earmarked Ritchie as having the calibre to succeed at left-back.

It was recently reported by the Siya crew that Chiefs had accepted Prague's offer for Ritchie, and it was now a case of the player agreeing personal terms with the Red and Whites.

Slavia Prague coach, Miroslav Koubek, has since disclosed why the club are intent on bringing in 23-year-old Ritchie to the left side of their back four. He told Czech Republic newsprovider, Knihy, that the club were currently playing a central defender at left back and that Ritchie could potentially remedy that situation.

He said, "Fernando Neves plays better at center-back position. We brought him in as this position really counts, so we had to bring someone to the left side of defence."

It's widely expected that the Alberton-born defender will agree a deal to leave Chiefs for Prague in the near future. Ritchie is in the last six months of his current deal, and a move to Europe could put him on the path of achieving his goal of one day playing for Liverpool in the English Premiership.

The crew will monitor developments.
