News coming out of the Polokwane City camp is that their target is to inflict pain on Maritzburg United’s scalp when they clash tonight.
Rise and Shine moved away from the relegation zone following a 2-1 victory over University of Pretoria at the weekend.
Placed at position 14 in the league table with 23 points from 25 matches, City can boost their survival bid with a win over the Team of Choice.
In total, both clubs have met on six ocassions with United winning four of these fixtures. The Polokwane-based outfit will be hoping to improve on a record of just one victory over Steve Komphela’s side.
Coach Boebie Solomons also revealed that Rise and Shine were unlucky to emerge on the wrong end of a 1-0 result in their previous game.
Solomons further states that he believes his team has now found their form and playing the kind of football he knows they are capable of.
“Our focus is to play good football and get the results to move forward and away from the bottom of the table. Our confidence is now higher and we have found our way, and against Maritzburg we should look to give the same effort,” Solomons said.
One of the goal scorers in their game against Tuks, Thobani Mncwango, also agreed with the former Bloemfontein Celtic assistant coach.
“The next game against Maritzburg is a must win for us if we are to move away from the relegation zone. We can catch up to them if the gap between us and them is just four points,” asaid Mncwango.
City will have to do without Vukile Mngqibisa who is suspended for the clash with Kabelo Lechaba also unavailable due to an ankle injury, but Maxwell Molala makes a comeback.
Tonight's clash will get underway at 19:30.
