Polokwane City’s top marksman Rodney Ramagalela is unfazed by the threat to his golden boot aspirations mainly in the form of Mamelodi Sundowns Percy Tau and Baroka FC’s Gift Motupa.
Ramagalela is currently the league’s top goal scorer with 11 league goals. He is followed by Tau who is on 10 and Motupa who has netted nine times this season. Both Ramagalela and Tau were on target for their respective teams last evening, and despite topping the goalscoring charts Rise and Shine have claimed that the striker has his sights on club ambitions rather that individual prizes.
“Rodney is firmly focused on helping the club to finish in the highest possible finish on the table. Even you were to speak to him, he would tell you that the club comes first,” Polokwane City spokesperson Vusi Mtimane told the Siya crew.
“However, as a club, it would be nice to have one of our own players win such an important accolade. If you look at how the team is playing, you can see the support the other players give to Ramagalela by the assists they provide to him.”
“Just as he supports the ambition of the club, the rest of the players also support him in his quest of finishing as the league’s top goalscorer,” added Mtimane.
Since joining City last season Ramagalela has proved to be the club’s most prolific striker over two seasons, having bagged 10 league goals in the previous campaign. In the current season, he has already surpassed this by one goal.
