No Top Eight Spot For City
Polokwane City's Top Eight Aspirations Dashed
With only a single round of Absa Premiership games left in the current campaign, the chances of Polokwane City making the top eight have been diminished.
On matchday 29, Rise and Shine only managed a goalless draw against Free State Stars which kept them in 13th spot with 33 points. The side from Limpopo can only end the season with a maximum of 36 points should they win their final league encounter.
However, eighth placed Chippa United are already on 36 points and furthermore, they have a superior goal difference over Bernard Molekwa's troops.
Speaking to the Siya crew, Vusi Mthimane said the club are ready to evaluate the season and come up with a plan to tackle the upcoming 2018/19 season.
“This has been a season where we will go back to the drawing board and learn from,” said Mthimane.
“There is a lot for us to draw from which will help us become stronger next season. We’ve had some positives this which is good for us and we can build from that. Key senior players such as Jabu Maluleke and Rodney Ramagalela played well for the team and for the focus will be to ensure that each player performs to that level in the new season,” concluded the side’s spokesperson.
Meanwhile, as indicated by the Siya crew, Rise and Shine could still be sucked into a situation where they may play in the play-offs should they lose their remaining game, and Ajax Cape Town and SuperSport United win their last fixtures.
