Polokwane City explain the appointment of new Slovakian coach Jozef Vukusic
Polokwane City earlier revealed the signing of seven players and further announced the signing of a new Head Coach to lead the side ahead of the 2018/19 season.
The Siya crew reported earlier that Rise and Shine had strengthened their squad with the addition of several players, however, it was the announcement of Slovakian coach Jozef Vukusic as their new head coach that grabbed the headlines.
The 53-year-old Slovakian takes over from Bernard Molekwa and last coached FK Spartaks in the Republic of Lavita.
Speaking to the Siya crew, City’s spokesperson, Vusi Ntimane said Vukusic appointment is part of the club’s ambition on taking the club in a new direction.
“The club is serious about becoming a serious contender for the various cup trophies and solidifying a top eight finish in the coming seasons,” said Ntimane.
“We have ambitions and therefore we needed to appoint the people with the expertise to get us there. We knew we needed a well-travelled coach to lead the team. Mr Vukusic is an experienced coach and has coached the U-21 national team of Slovakia.
“Our new coach is also good with young players and this will fit in perfectly with building a successful MDC team,” added Ntimane
The signings include Lehlohonolo Nhlapo, Themba Chauke, Khayalethu Mjoli, Tebogo Kalake, Bongani Manavhela, Msekeli Mvalo and Muhammed Anas.
Meanwhile, Vukusic has coached on African soil before having managed Al-Ahly and also had a stint with then FC Cape Town.
