Maluleke: We Can Only Do What We Can
Polokwane City captain Jabu Maluleke says the team will do their best in final league match
Polokwane City captain Jabu Maluleke says he and his teammates will head into their last PSL fixture with the view of winning the game and hope that other results go their way.
Speaking to the Siya crew the veteran midfielder noted that nothing less than three points is needed in order to give the Limpopo side a fighting chance at staying in the PSL and possibly avoiding the play-offs.
“We need the win the game on Saturday, it’s that plain and simple. We are in a situation where we can’t afford a draw or a loss,” said Maluleke.
“Even if we win we now have to hope that SuperSport United and Ajax Cape Town lose their matches, so it’s no longer in our hands but we can only do what we can in this situation and win.
“Playing in the play-offs is never ideal as it’s very taxing and by the time the season commences you are behind when it comes to rest. On Saturday we need to stay 100% focused on our game and hope all goes in our favour,” added the 36-year-old.
SuperSport take on Baroka FC while Ajax welcome a beleaguered Kaizer Chiefs side. City will have to hope that both Matsantsantsa and the Urban Warriors register defeats against their respective opponents to have a chance at retaining their PSL status.
All games on the final matchday will begin at 15h00.
