Players Who Could Make Their Debut For Their New Club This Weekend
The Absa Premiership will get underway this weekend and Soccer Laduma takes a look at some of the new signings who could make their debut for their new clubs.
Khama Billiat will once again be facing his former side, but this time it won’t be friendly. Both sides will be looking to secure all three points on Saturday as they aim to get their league campaign off to a positive start.
Brilliant Khuzwayo could make his official league debut in the famous Orlando Pirates colours against Highlands Park, alongside the likes of Kudakwashe Mahachi and Vincent Pule who were signed during the transfer window.
Cape Town City finally found another goalkeeper to challenge Sage Stephens for the number one spot with Peter Leeuwenburgh also in contention to make his league debut against SuperSport United. The likes of Gift Links and Riyaad Norodien will also be raring to go in Head Coach Benni McCarthy’s side.
Andile Jali will also be reintroduced to the Absa Premiership, after his last league appearance came for Pirates in January 2014. On the other hand, the likes of Toni Silva and Jose Ali Meza will also be welcomed to the Absa Premiership, with Head Coach Pitso Mosimane set to make sure they gel quickly with the team. Mosa Lebusa is expected to be announced by Sundowns this week and it remains to be seen whether they will complete his move in time for this weekend’s clash against Chiefs.
Maritzburg United will also have quite a few new signings that will make their debut in the colours of the Team of Choice, with the likes of Keagan Buchanan, Nazeer Allie and Denwin Farmer all in contention for action this weekend in the KwaZulu-Natal derby.
Highlands Park will make their return to the Absa Premiership this season, facing a tough first fixture following their promotion to the top flight. The Lions of the North will lock horns with Pirates this weekend.
Bidvest Wits have been fairly active in the transfer market, recently completing the signings of the likes of Vuyo Mere, Brighton Mhlongo and Bantu Mzwakali.
As the start of the new season approaches, it remains to be seen which teams will field their new signings during the opening fixtures.
