Player Ratings: Celtic v Sundowns

Soccer Laduma rates the individual performances of the Bloemfontein Celtic and Mamelodi Sundowns players, following the Brazilians' 1-0 win.

Bloemfontein Celtic:

Patrick Tignyemb: 6

The Celtic shot-stopper was superb in the opening 45 minutes, as he pulled off numerous saves to keep the Sundowns attack at bay. While, he was helpless for Laffor's winning goal in the second half.

Bevan Fransman: 6

Fransman put in an impressive showing in the heart of the defence, as he did well to frustrate Castro and the rest of the Sundowns attack.

Musa Bilankulu: 6

Certainly held his own alongside Fransman, while he was also comfortable whenever he was in possession of the ball.

Mthokozisi Dube: 6

Did well to frustrate Themba Zwane and Keagan Dolly down the right flank, although he did struggle whenever he went one-on-one with Billiat.

Tumelo Mogapi: 6

Mogapi was solid defensively at left-back, hardly gave much away at the back, while he did add numbers to the attack going forward.

Lantshane Phalane: 6

Did well on a few occasions in the defensive role in the first half, however he was sacrificed for an attacking player at the start of the second half.

Keagan Buchanan: 6

Put in a workman-like shift in the middle of the park, started off slowly in the first half, but had more of an influence in the second and was unlucky not to score with a long range effort.

Frank Mhango: 6

Not the best of evenings for Mhango, as he led the line for Celtic, he endured a tough time against Arendse and Nthethe and was replaced shortly after the break.

Alfred Ndengane: 6

Spent most of the first half chasing shadows, as Sundowns dominated the in the first half, but he saw more of the ball in the stanza.

Lerato Lamola: 6

Showed glimpses of what he can do in the first half, although he was a real threat in the second half and it took a superb save from Denis Onyango in the 85th minute to keep his header out.

Musa Nyatama: 6

It proved to be a frustrating evening for the Celtic forward, he hardly had service to work with, although he continued to work hard.

Thapelo Morena: 6

Brought on at the start of the second half and he certainly made his presence known down the right flank, although his crossing was not up to par.

Helder Pelember: 6

Replaced Mhango in the 55th minute, although he failed to make the desired impact upfront.

Geofrey Massa: NA

Only played the final 12 minutes, as Celtic pushed for the equaliser, although he was hardly afforded any opportunities in the 18-yard area.

Mamelodi Sundowns:

Denis Onyango: 6.5

Hardly had a touch of the ball in the first half, but pulled off a number fine saves in the second half, most notably keeping out Lamola's header in the final five minutes.

Wayne Arendse: 6

Arendse looks to be cementing his spot in the Sundowns line-up, as he did well to frustrate the likes of Mhango and Lamola. Although he was caught for pace on a couple occasions.

Thabo Nthethe: 6

It proved to be a successful return for Nthethe against his former employers. He didn't let the boo boys get to him, as he was solid defensively and was unlucky not have scored with a header in the second half.

Tebogo Langerman: 6

Langerman put in a solid display at left-black and was hardly beaten by the likes of Mhango or Lamola, while he was a threat going forward down the left flank.

Ramahlwe Mphahlele: 6.5

Moved to the right side of the defence and put in a fine display defensively and was a constant threat going forward, while he picked up the assist for Laffor's goal.

Hlompho Kekana: 6

Did well to keep the ball moving in the first half, as Sundowns dominated possession, while he did well to protect the back four with Celtic chasing the game.

Bonagni Zungu: 6.5

Zungu certainly impressed in the Sundowns midfield, was key to Sundowns dictating play and wasn't afraid to put in a tackle when the going got tough in the second half. He also scooped up the Man of the Match award.

Keagan Dolly: 6

Started off slowly even though Sundowns dominated in the first half, he did have a powerful effort saved by Tignyemb in the first half, while his delivery into the box was impressive.

Themba Zwane: 6

Not the liveliest of showings from the Sundowns winger, who was left frustrated on both flanks and he was eventually substituted in the 60th minute.

Khama Billiat: 6.5

The Zimbabwean was a constant throughout the 90 minutes, he troubled the Celtic defence with his dribbling on numerous occasions. Although he was let down by his end product in the box.

Leonardo Castro: 6

Castro did not have the liveliest of debuts, he did squander a chance in the opening exchanges but he did work tirelessly without the ball.

Anthony Laffor: 7

Replaced Zwane in the after the hour-mark and made the perfect introduction with a well-taken goal in the 70th minute, while he was a constant threat down the right flank.

Mogakolodi Ngele: 6

Brought on in the 62nd minute and showed glimpses of he what he is capable of but spent of the most his cameo tracking back.
