Pitso Mosimane: Teko Modise Was Right To Leave
Mamelodi Sundowns head coach, Pitso Mosimane thinks that Teko Modise made the right decision by leaving the club.
The veteran midfielder, who turned 35-year-old today, parted ways with Sundowns during the July/August transfer window period where he subsequently put pen to paper on a professional contract with Cape Townn City.
Speaking to the media, the Sundowns head coach was videoed saying that Modise made the right decision by leaving the club, as the midfielder sought the needed game-time that was not given to him by Mosimane.
“I never said he must go, I never said his contract must never (be) renewed, and I always told you that, as long as he’s at Sundowns he’ll remain here, like Surprise, like all the legends you know,” Mosimane said.
“He opted to go, he wanted game-time, which obviously he was right, I am not getting game time, why must I stick around.”
“You know but, it is very difficult, (Tiyani) Mabunda’s got quick legs and strong legs and (Hlompho) Kekana is still in the space and I play two in the midfield, so it is a little bit of a difficult situation, you know, so he’s right, he was right to leave to go play,’ he added.
