Pitso Mosimane says that Phakamani Mahlambi wasn’t bought for them to win the league and still has time to develop.
The 20-year-old put pen to paper with Sundowns on the final day of the July/August transfer window, where he scored on debut for the Brazilians in an Absa Premiership match against AmaZulu FC on the weekend.
Speaking to the media, Mosimane revealed that Mahlambi still has time to be on the level that Percy Tau was before he made the move to Europe.
“He’s young, he’s 20, he has a lot to learn, I remember Percy at 20, we had to work hard, imagine Khama Billiat at 20, so we have to be patient, he will get there, we still have to teach him. Today he was losing balls, trying to back heel, he’s in KZN to show off a little bit and I must remind him (to) come out a little bit (in the) next match, he is a good boy, he is going to learn,” Mosimane told the media.
“He’s got three years to be where Percy is, when Percy left for Europe he was 23, he’s 20, so he still has three more years to catch up on Percy. Phaka is not supposed to win us the league, Phaka is a big investment for us, I think Phaka will be a return of investment that we get for Keagan, for Zungu, because Zungu was 20, Keagan was 20, I got Percy, younger, where are they now? So, the future is bright,” he added.
