Mosimane: Winners Don’t Quit

Mamelodi Sundowns coach, Pitso Mosimane, has shared his views on how his side has done so far and possibilities in the remaining games of the season.

“Mamelodi Sundowns is now in the final stretch of the league. This is the big test for any team, and how the team responds is an indication of its staying power. Last season at this time we were struggling to move up the log.

"We have come a long way since then, and the way we started the season was an indication that we are moving forward. I believe that this team has the will to win, and we will not give up on the league chase.

"Winners don’t quit, and we are not about to quit. If you look at the results we are achieving you will see that there is a consistency that we lacked last season. We lacked cohesion. We lacked self-belief and more importantly, we were not playing as a unit.

"We worked hard on these issues, and our results this season show that the players have renewed belief and energy. This is the spirit that wins games, that wins titles, that brings silverware and that make sure our fans are given joy after every game. Our players have shown a lot of character and for that, they deserve credit – every one of them.

"You must understand that in the last few games, we came from two defeats by Pirates and Wits. After that we responded well and got back to winning ways. That shows that the team has integrity and character to move one step up from where we are currently.

"We are now sitting at position two. At the moment we are fighting to stay where we are because the chance of moving up the log is more alive when we are this close to the log leaders. What’s in our power is to fight and do whatever is humanly possible to get points. Anything else above that is in not within our powers,” Mosimane told sundownsfc.co.za.
