Pitso: They Will Never, Ever, Allow Us To Score Three

Pitso Mosimane is aware that Cape Town City will not be a pushover when his side travels to the Mother City on Tuesday.

Mamelodi Sundowns will once again lock horns with the Citizens at the Athlone Stadium on Tuesday evening, this after a thrilling encounter between the two sides last week, which saw the Brazilians clinch all three points in a 3-2 win.

“This is the first time we’re on top. If we apply our experience of being there because we have been there before. Normally when we’re there, we don’t come back,” Mosimane said at the time, prior to drawing against Bloemfontein Celtic on the weekend.

However, despite dropping points on Saturday, the Brazilians are still leading the log standings, with a game in hand and just one point currently separating the Chloorkop-based club from Orlando Pirates at second place.

Sundowns’ run in their quest for the league title will once again be tested, as they face City at the Athlone Stadium on Tuesday, with Mosimane aware that Head Coach Benni McCarthy’s side will not go down without a fight.

“The big one is the return leg in Cape Town against Cape Town City on Tuesday. They will never, ever, ever allow us to score three goals. It’s going to a tight one, it’s going to be like the Wits one. I hope that there are no red cards. You never know, maybe you nick it and go with it,” he said on Sundowns’ official website.

“I told you that the point against Wits was a big point. We went to FNB Stadium last season and I told you that that point we got from Kaizer Chiefs is a big point. We went to FNB Stadium this season, and that was a big win for us. You were surprised to see me running to the corner. It’s because I knew it was a big one. It wasn’t easy,” Mosimane exampled.

City are currently fourth place on the Absa Premiership league standings, just four points away from the top and it remains to be seen whether they could cause an upset for the Brazilians tomorrow, or if Sundowns are able to secure back-to-back wins over the Citizens.
