Pitso Comments On Busy Schedule And Bafana
Pitso Mosimane Has Commented On Mamelodi Sundowns Upcoming Busy Schedule
Mamelodi Sundowns will once again be facing a busy schedule as they look to compete on both domestic and continental fronts, while also having their players report for national team duty.
The Absa Premiership is currently underway, while the MTN8 campaign kicks off this weekend, Sundowns will need to focus on both domestic competitions while they focus on making their way out of the CAF Champions League group stages.
“The last thing I want is to compromise the league and to compromise champions league, that’s the last thing we could do because those are important. The league takes you to Champions League and Champions League is the toughest tournament and if it was that easy then everybody could do it if it’s that easy,” Mosimane said after his side’s 2-0 win over Polokwane City in the Absa Premiership.
Bafana Bafana will also return to action next month, September, with a few of the Sundowns players, expected to receive call-ups to Head Coach Stuart Baxter’s setup.
“And also, above that, I think there are five games for Cup of Nations that are coming and international games usually, they are away for 10 days, so 50 days in the whole program is taken by Bafana Bafana.”
“On top of that, there are 14 games that you have to play now for Champions League and another 14 games for Champions League until May. There is (also) top eight, our people like the top eight which we haven’t won since I am here and then there is Nedbank, we went to the semis but try and win it (now) and then there is Telkom plus injuries. I am looking at other people also to see how they are going to cope but we are the only ones who have more games than any teams. You never know,” Mosimane said.
