Mamelodi Sundowns’ head coach, Pitso Mosimane thinks that two of his defenders are ready to represent Bafana Bafana.
Mosimane has been making changes to his back-line following the return of Rivaldo Coetzee.
Coetzee made his official first team debut for Sundowns during their opening round of the preliminary stage of the CAF Champions League, where the player subsequently made his Absa Premiership debut on the weekend.
The 22-year-old put in a solid 90 minute lap for the Brazilians, with Head Coach Mosimane commended him for his performance at centre-back alongside Mosa Lebusa.
Speaking after the game, Mosimane revealed that Coetzee is good enough to return to the national team, adding that Lebusa is now also an option for Head Coach Stuart Baxter.
“Riva (Rivaldo Coetzee), it’s so good to see him play, it is unbelievable that he hasn’t been playing football, he’s Bafana material hey, I think he can compete with Buhle (Mkhwanazi) at centre-back and I think he can also compete with Tyson, as much as those guys are very good centre-backs, but Mosa (Lebusa) and Rivaldo, I give options to Stuart (Baxter), the pool is bigger now, they strong on set pieces, the pass well from the back,” Mosimane told the media.
“These players who are well developed from the Ajax academy you will see you’ll see their passing, it’s no stress and the anticipation, so it is good for South Africa that we have these two boys back, that’s why I played them in the Champions League” he added.
