Pitso Mosimane was not too critical of his side after their 1-1 draw, although pointed out that Denis Onyango’s mistake was the deciding factor of the game.
Mamelodi Sundowns hosted Polokwane City at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium last night, where, after playing to a draw, the Brazilians missed out on the chance to top of the Absa Premiership league standings.
Sundowns were leading in the opening minutes of the encounter, however, after an error by Onyango, Polokwane were able to pull one back.
Speaking to the media, Mosimane admitted to his goalkeeper’s error, although adding that he doesn’t think anything else went wrong on the day.
“Nothing went wrong, just the number one in Africa made a big mistake and then nothing else you know,” Mosimane told the media after the game.
“It’s a good start but maybe the early lead also made us play a little bit different, I think we wanted to protect the goal as early as possible and we let them play a little bit but also I think they are a good team, you’ve got to accept, that’s why they are on the position on the log.
“This match tonight, the way they defended is unbelievable, it is totally different to the match of Maritzburg, 3-0, they did well, they were organised at the back.
“But, you are unhappy that you didn’t get the three points, it is two points lost but at the same time it is a point gained,” he added.
