Word reaching the Siya crew is that Orlando Pirates and Wits have entered into the race to sign Ghanaian forward, Yakubu Mohammed.
It was reported earlier this week by Soccer-Laduma that Maritzburg United had held talks with Mohammed’s current club, Ashanti Gold, about the possibility of a move.
However, it is now thought that both Pirates and Wits are seriously considering making an offer for the 24-year-old hitman, who has scored 14 goals for AshGold so far this season.
It remains to be seen which team currently leads the charge to land the talented striker, although it is believed that he may make his decision by the end of this month.
‘Yak’ as previously attracted interest from Ghanaian giants, Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, but has up until now remained loyal to his current outfit.
However, it now seems that his future lays in South Africa, with three clubs all battling it out to land his signature before the start of their next campaign.
