Fresh from winning Q3 of the PSL’s Q-Innovation, Orlando Pirates are on their way to Mpumalanga for their Absa Premiership match against SuperSport United.
Former Pirates defender, Tonic Chabalala, believes that more experience is needed in Milutin Sredojevic’s team going forward.
“The team is doing well, and take nothing away from them for the effort, but I’m just worried that there are a lot of young players in the team. Experience is needed (at) this crucial time of the season. Sometimes, young players can’t take the pressure, and that’s normal,” said Chabalala.
Bucs and Matsatsantsa drew 0-0 in their first round league game played at the Orlando Stadium in December.
“But so far, so good, the team is playing well and getting the results. But sometimes I get worried because I’m not entirely convinced (by) the experience in the team. Like in the game against (Bloemfontein) Celtic, I wasn’t entirely convinced. I felt like we nearly lost the game. In a team, you need to have four or five Happy Jeles (experienced players) to do the job for you. But the team has been getting the results, and that is what is important. I just hope that they stay focused and do the job until the end of the season,” concluded Chabalala.
The Buccaneers, who are one of the favourites to win the league this season, will take on Matsatsantsa at the Mbombela Stadium on Wednesday evening.
