The Buccaneers who have sailed some rough seas in the past weeks, as results have not gone their way losing two Absa Premiership fixtures in a row, their eyes fixated onto the R7 million price tag that comes with the Nedbank trophy, which will go a long way in easing the pain and strain this season has brought on the Ghost.
Former Bucs legend, Edward ‘Magents’ Motale, told Soccer Laduma that the cup tie will be a stern challenge for Pirates.
“As much as Sundowns is in form and high on confidence they shouldn’t make the mistake of regarding Pirates as water under the bridge. Pirates are wounded and will come out ‘swinging’ for this match”
Speaking to his club’s official website, Vladimir Vermezović, admitted that the losses to Mpumalanga Black Aces and SuperSport United, have affected the team’s somewhat morale, however, the players remain tough.
“The Nedbank Cup is something we have to go all out and try to win. We also have not had enough time to prepare because we had to catch up, but we will see. Now we will have a full week of preparation and I’m sure we will have a good game against Sundowns.” stated Vermezović
