Former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper, Robert Modiadie, says Eric Tinkler and his team have a perfect chance to close the gap with Kaizer Chiefs on the Absa Premiership log tonight.
With the league title seemingly no longer within the reach of the two giants of South African football, finishing in a better position for one compared to the other will be among the talking points for the supporters of the two clubs at the end of the season.
Following their 1-0 loss to Jomo Cosmos last night, Chiefs are 4th on the PSL log with 39 points. Pirates are 6th on the PSL standings with 32 points.
The Buccaneers will be at the Bidvest Stadium tonight for their game with Wits. Modiadie believes that Pirates should use the game tonight to close the gap with their perennial rivals.
“It is possible that they (Pirates) might close the gap. They are playing Wits tonight and should go into the game with the intention of collecting maximum points. You can see that Chiefs haven’t been playing well. They lost 1-0 in their game with Jomo Cosmos last night. I was watching that game. I haven’t checked how many points they (Pirates) are on at the moment, but surely by winning tonight they will be closing the gap, following Chiefs’ loss. The aim should be on closing the gap so that they could finish in position four or three or two on the log. It will depend on the commitment of the players,” said Modiadie.
