Pirates’ New Defender Wants Silverware
Orlando Pirates defender, Diamond Thopola, is adamant on helping the Soweto giants win silverware as he takes on the next step of his professional football career.
Thopola’s transfer from Chippa United to the Buccaneers was confirmed by the Soweto giants last month as Coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic looks to bolster his squad for the second half of the 2017/18 season.
Now, ahead of the opening week of football action in 2018, Thopola has told the club’s official website that he is ready to don the famous black and white jersey and help the team to success.
“I feel ready to take to the pitch in Pirates’ colours, but I know it won’t be easy. I missed a few games in the first half of the season but being here now has energised me and I’m ready to help the Club challenge for the league and upcoming Nedbank Cup”, Thopola told the club’s official website.
“I’m settling in and adjusting to the Club, and I must thank my teammates for that. They have welcomed me and that has made it easy to adjust to the new environment. Coach Micho and his technical staff have also been very supportive.”
Bucs face Baroka FC in their first outing of 2018, at the Orlando Stadium, and the defender could make his debut.
