Orlando Pirates PRO, Mickey Modisane, tells the Siya crew that the club is waiting for the match commissioner’s report before it could release a statement following the fans attack on coach Roger de Sa.
De Sa was pelted with missiles by some section of the Pirates fans as he went into the Moses Mabhida Stadium tunnel following his team’s 1-1 draw against AmaZulu last night.
“I can’t comment on the incident that happened at Moses Mabhida last night, except to say that the coach wasn’t harmed. He is safe and will return with the team to Johannesburg today,” said Modisane.
“We’re waiting for the full report from the match commissioner and then we’ll issue a statement afterwards,” added Modisane.
Asked if the club will take any action against those supporters who were throwing missiles at De Sa, Modisane said: “We’ll take action if there is a warrant for it, but like I said, we’re waiting for the report first,” explained Modisane.
De Sa’s future at Pirates has been under speculation ever since he failed to win the MTN8, Telkom Knockout and CAF Champions League after reaching the finals of all three competitions.
And after last night’s result, many believe that De Sa could face the axe soon at the Buccaneers.
