Interest Mounts In Khuzwayo, Bucs Leading Race?
Pirates Joined By One More Club In Brilliant Khuzwayo Interest
One more club is believed to be showing interest in Brilliant Khuzwayo now that the goalkeeper’s exit from Kaizer Chiefs has been confirmed.
Chiefs have already confirmed that Khuzwayo is on his way out of Naturena, with Amakhosi’s football manager indicating that the player ‘approached the club asking for a blessing to move to another club at the end of the current season.’
Orlando Pirates have been strongly linked with the Umlazi-born player in recent weeks. The Buccaneers are believed to be keen on adding the 28-year-old shot-stopper to their squad for the new season, as they look to strengthen the goalkeeping department for Milutin Sredojevic's team.
However, reports in local media indicate that Highlands Park joined the race for the player’s signature as part of the team's preparations for their first season back in the PSL, following their promotion from the NFD this past season.
Khuzwayo will be a free agent at the end of June, which will enable any club that will sign him to do so without paying any transfer fee.
The player’s main aim is to get regular game-time in the new season to make up for the time he spent on the bench at Chiefs, as he played second fiddle to Itumeleng Khune.
While the Lions of the North are said to be keen on signing Khuzwayo, an indication from sources in the know is that it is Pirates who are leading the race for his signature.
Khuzwayo has also been linked with Cape Town City in recent weeks.
Highlands Park have also been linked with Pirates’ Wayne Sandilands, as well as Thela Ngobeni of Mamelodi Sundowns in their search for a goalkeeper.
