Orlando Pirates defender, Thabo Matlaba, was stretchered off the pitch in the side’s hard fought 1-0 victory of CS Sfaxien last night and will be assessed when the side return to South Africa.
The 27-year-old picked up a hamstring strain in the 70th minute and had to be substituted in the Sea Robbers CAF Confederation Cup Group B encounter.
The marauding left back will have to wait to see a specialist when the team return to Mzansi on Tuesday morning. The Buccaneers’ medical department released the following statement on their official website:
“Thabo suffered what appears to be a hamstring strain. He was treated immediately treated with the RICE Principle as well as an anti-inflammatory. He will go to a specialist during the course of the week to assess the full extent of his injury.”
