Soccer-Laduma journalist, Joe Crann, was at pitch side for the game and once the final whistle had gone, he took time out to chat to some of the Pirates faithful and get their opinions on the first leg, and their predictions for the upcoming tie in Cairo.
Here is what some of the fans had to say:
“That goal made my day! Today is my birthday and Thabo Matlaba has made my night. It’s going to be a tough game in Egypt but I think we can win 2-1. We’ve beaten them before and we’ll do it again. We’re coming back with two stars!”
“We’re going to win this tournament, it’s our game and we’re going to win. We’re going win 2-0 in Egypt.”
“I’m very disappointed with the game, we were supposed to play local football, not like they were. They were not relaxed. When they beat Ahly 3-0 they were relaxed and playing local football. I’m a Khosi supporter, but I’m fully behind Pirates.”
“We’ll win in Egypt! When we expect Pirates to deliver, they don’t, but when they’re under pressure I can guarantee you, in Egypt, we’re going to get our second star.”
The second leg clash will take place in Cairo this weekend as the Buccaneers look to secure their second CAF Champions League title.
