Orlando Pirates will today begin their off-season break following a long 2012/13 PSL campaign, although will get less than a month off, returning for pre-season training on June 18.
Although the Buccaneers may have completed their domestic season, their CAF Champions League Group Stage campaign will begin in July and coach Roger de Sa will want to make sure that his players are ready.
A statement on orlandopiratesfc.com said, “Orlando Pirates first team players underwent an easy session on Wednesday afternoon to wrap up the 2012/13 season.
“The players are expected to meet at Orlando Stadium later today for a farewell lunch where they will also be handed their respective training programmes for the holidays.
“Unfortunately due to the CAF Champions League Group Stages kicking off in mid-July, the players will only have a three-week break. Pre-season training starts on the 18th June 2013.”
Pirates’ first Champions League game will take place on July 20, when AC Leopards make the trip to the Orlando Stadium.
