Minister of Sports and Recreation Fikile Mbalula was also at the airport to wish Bucs well.
Speaking at the airport, Mbalula told the Pirates to go to Egypt and fight.
“You boys are going to war. Go out there and fight well. Never be apologetic about what you have achieved. You have achieved!" Mbalula said, according to the official Pirates Twitter account.
"History has chosen the Bucs, the Bucs have not chosen history. We are here because you boys have made your mark," added Mbalula.
“Egypt here we come. 30 000, 40 000, 100 000, it doesn't matter. You have SA behind you. You have done this great nation proud," concluded Mbalula.
Pirates will play Ahly at Arab Contractors Stadium on Sunday at 18h00.
