SuperSport United have been dealt a serious blow with the news that defender Roscoe Pietersen has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.
The 24-year-old has had a reasonable start to his Matsatsantsa career since joining from Chippa United last year, however he is now unlikely to play a further part for Gavin Hunt’s side after undergoing knee surgery.
Pietesen injured his ACL near the end of last year, following a promising few months as a SuperSport player but was expected to be back this month to join up with his teammates.
However, his injury worsened and the defender was forced to undergo surgery on the knee, surgery that means he will spend an even longer period on the sidelines.
While the operation is set to rule him out for an extended period of time, Pietersen has been referred to as an exceptional professional and he may make a speedier recovery than the doctors expect from him.
