The representative of the likes of former Bafana Bafana captain, Steven Pienaar, Tottenham Hotspurs’ Victor Wanyama and Orlando Pirates’ Abbubaker Mobara, has arrived in Mzansi where he will be present at the annual Bayhill Premier Cup tournament.
The 2017 edition of the tournament will be underway on Wednesday, April 12, at Erica Park in Belhar in Cape Town.
Many local footballing agents including former Ajax Cape Town midfielder, Lance Davids, who’s a Belgium-based football representative at On Target Sports Consultants, will be in the Mother City to spectate the tournament.
The tournament is often seen as a scouting ground for young talent and speaking to Soccer Laduma, Davids revealed that it was at the Bayhill tournament where he scouted the likes of Tyrique Bartlett, who plies his trade for English-outfit, Newcastle United and Craig Joemath who recently signed a short-term deal with FC Helsingor in Denmark.
“I will be at the Bayhill tournament. I scouted two boys there, Craig Joemath and Shaun Bartlett’s son, Tyrique at the Bayhill. I am the one (who) recommended him (Tyrique Bartlett) to Newcastle,” Davids told Soccer Laduma.
“I’ve played in the tournament back in my younger days, so it will be nice to spend my time here and see what our youngsters are about. I’m also here to identify the special young talents who have the desire to ply their trade in Europe,” he concluded.
