On Saturday, January 19, the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations gets underway in South Africa, in what will be the 29th edition of CAF’s continental showpiece.
Bafana Bafana, as the host nation, will open the tournament when they take on Cape Verde at the National Stadium (FNB Stadium) in Soweto, with coach Gordon Igesund looking to guide the team to success on home soil.
The four time PSL winning coach took over at the helm from Pitso Mosimane last year, and after assessing a number of players during various international friendlies, the coach named his 23-man Afcon squad on December 30.
Igesund has put together a squad that he believes is capable of lifting Africa’s most prestigious cup, with the nation’s hopes resting on the 23 respective players.
The Soccer-Laduma journos are currently in deliberation on who we believe should be in Igesund’s starting eleven for Saturday’s opening game against Cape Verde, which will appear in the new Soccer-Laduma on Wednesday.
In the meantime we want to hear from you, who you think should be in Igesund’s line-up. Leave your comments below and see how close you are to Soccer-Laduma’s selection.
