Orlando Pirates defender Patrick Phungwayo has praised the depth of his side's squad as shown in the last few weeks.
Bucs have been struck with injuries and suspensions while competing in the CAF Champions League as well as the MTN8 competition.
The likes of Andile Jali, Happy Jele, Thabo Matlaba, Siyabonga Sangweni and Thandani Ntshumayelo have all missed matches due to injuries and suspensions.
Bucs go head-to-head in the final of the MTN8 competition against Platinum Stars at 20h15 tonight. Bucs defender Phungwayo feels that the depth of the squad has brought the team this far.
Phungwayo told Soccer-Laduma, “Our squad has been through a lot so far this season. We have lots of cover for every position and it was clear when we had all those suspensions.”
Pirates have a clean bill of health ahead of the MTN8 finals clash with Platinum Stars and this will create some healthy competition for selection within the Bucs camp.
“We have so many players available for this match and everybody wants to be involved in a cup final. This will make the guys fight harder,” added Phungwayo.
