Orlando Pirates have received a major boost ahead of their Absa Premiership clash with SuperSport United, with news that defender, Patrick Phungwayo, has recovered from his injury and will resume training next week.
Phungwayo has been nursing an ankle injury since last year and has missed most of Pirates’ league and cup, as well as the CAF Champions League.
“Fullback Patrick Phungwayo who has been out injured, is set to return to the side after recovering from an ankle injury,” read a statement on orlandopiratesfc.com.
“The club medical team confirmed earlier today, that the 26-year-old former Bidvest Wits captain will join his teammates for training next Monday,” the statement continued.
Meanwhile, defender Siyabonga Sangweni who has been nursing an ankle injury, is according to the Pirates medical team expected to join the team only in February.
According to orlandopiratesfc.com, Sangweni has entered the last phase of his rehabilitation programme.
