Former Moroka Swallows and FC AK striker Cheemon Petersen, who impressed Chippa United coach Farouk Abrahams during trial, is expected to sign a contract with the club later today.
The 23-year-old showed great promise by scoring a number of goals during the team’s training matches and is ecstatic at the opportunity to shine in the PSL.
“Chippa are definitely signing me,” a delighted Petersen reveals to Soccer-Laduma. “From what I understand the contract has already been drawn up so it’s just a matter of hours before I can put pen to paper.
“My dad and uncle are handling that side of things but the club has told me they want my services after I scored some nice goals – thank the Lord!”
“Tomorrow morning we are playing a friendly against Vasco da Gama where I’m hoping to do well. As a striker you must be relaxed, if you don’t enjoy yourself you won’t do your best,” he added.
Petersen senior confirmed that it took Abrahams just two days to make his decision. “Apparently while playing in the first team Cheemon scored a cracker, he’s full of confidence at the moment and we’re just waiting for a clearance from Farouk Khan’s Vodacom Second Division team,” he said.
