Petersen At Chippa
Chippa United head coach Farouk Abrahams has agreed to give former Moroka Swallows and FC AK striker, Cheemon Petersen a trial.
The Pietermaritzburg-born 23-year-old has not seen much action at either PSL or NFD levels but his father, soccer legend, Calvin Petersen, who played with Abrahams during the 1980s, believes he just needs a break.
“Cheemon was looking very, very sharp in KZN over the festive period,” says Petersen senior. “I took him through a few drills, his finishing is very good, he just needs that break and once it comes he must grab it. His mentality is also very good because any other player would say ‘to hell with this’ but he keeps on working, is very positive and knows where he wants to go.”
The player was in Cape Town a few months ago for a trial at Santos which didn’t work out so he’ll be hoping from Monday to impress his father’s ex-team mate who urgently needs capable goal scorers.
