Peter Shalulile leads the charts as the most valuable player in Mzansi and Soccer Laduma takes a look at which other players join him in making up the most expensive XI in the DStv Premiership this season.
According to the figures derived from Transfermarkt.com, Mamelodi Sundowns’ Shalulile, is currently the most expensive player in the DStv Premiership, with a market value of €1.5 (±R25.9m).
The Namibian forward has seen his stock rise since joining the Brazilians from the now-defunct Highlands Park two seasons ago and has contributed towards 42 goals (33 goals and 9 assists) in 53 matches for the Chloorkop outfit.
Thereafter, Mamelodi Sundowns’ Thapelo Morena, Orlando Pirates duo of Thulani ‘Tyson’ Hlatshwayo and Innocent Maela make up the most expensive defence according to the website.
Morena is currently valued at €1.2m (±R20.7m), Tyson at €1.3 m (±R22.5m) and Maela, who is currently out through injury at €1m (±R17.3m).
Meanwhile, the most expensive midfield has SuperSport’s Teboho Mokoena valued at €1.2m (±R20.7m), Sundowns’ Andile Jali at €1.1m (±R19.0m) and Kaizer Chiefs’ Khama Billiat valued at €1.3m (±22.5m).
On the wings are Sundowns’ Themba Zwane at €1.4m (±R24.2m), Kaizer Chiefs’ Keagan Dolly at €1m (±R17.3m) as well as Pirates winger Deon Hotto who is valued at €1.2m (±R20.7m).
The total value of the squad equates to approximately €13.4m (±R231.9m).
