Despite Black Leopards having confirmed Kosta Papic’s departure for Chippa United, the Chilli Boys’ CEO has refused to announce him as their head coach.
Speaking at the PSL’s 2014/15 fixture draw today, Peter Koutroulis explained that Chippa did have a new coach, but wouldn’t confirm his name to the media.
The Siya crew has already confirmed Papic’s appointment, as well as the signing of Zambian international, Chris Katongo, another issue that Koutroulis was reluctant to speak about.
He told the media, “It’s not a local coach, it’s a foreigner, but he has quite a history in South Africa. We believe he’s a good coach that can make Chippa United a good club. We need Chippa in the PSL, they can’t go back to the NFD.
On the signing of Katongo, he added, “We are interested in Chris Katongo, he’s an experienced player and one of the strikers that I believe can score goals for us. We’re busy with his manager in England and very soon we can announce if we’ve signed him or not. “
When asked about other potential signings, the Chippa CEO said, “I have had meetings with Sundowns and we’ve signed a few players, but I need to sit down with the new coach and give him all the players names and see what he wants.”
Chippa are now expected to announce Papic’s arrival at the club at a press conference tomorrow.
