Brighton Deal Now ‘Difficult’ As Tau Stays Away
According to reports in the British media, Brighton & Hove Albion regard signing Percy Tau as being ‘difficult’, and the player has still not arrived for camp with Mamelodi Sundowns.
Speculation regarding the talismanic Masandawana star has been rife in recent weeks amid talk of a possible move overseas, and things heated up last week when comments from the player’s agent prompted a statement from the club themselves.
Now, with Sundowns away for camp in Rustenburg, the Siya crew have been informed that – as of this morning – the 24-year-old was still not present, although no reasons have been given as to why that is the case.
The Seagulls have reportedly tabled a substantial offer for Tau in order to tempt Sundowns into selling him, although at this point in time it remains to be seen if any club will be able to meet their valuation of the 2017/18 PSL Footballer of the Season.
Over in the UK, The Argus have said that their understanding was that Brighton "regard the deal as 'difficult'," and that "a further complication would be securing a work permit for Tau", suggesting that a move may not materialise for the Bafana Bafana international. They did mention that West Bromwich Albion could now be in the picture too.
Tau has attracted interest from all over the world given his performances for the Brazilians – most recently from Club Brugge in Belgium – and there is a chance that he may leave South African shores before the new season gets underway.
