Tau Attracts EPL Interest, No Bid Made

Percy Tau Is Thought To Have Attracted English Premier League Interest

By Soccer Laduma - Jun 13, 2018 11:08 AM
Pitso Mosimane has already stated that he may have to comes with losing Mamelodi Sundowns star, Percy Tau, and it appears he’s attracted interest from England.

According to The Argus in the United Kingdom, Brighton & Hove Albion are ‘tracking’ the 24-year-old Bafana Bafana international, although it was said that at this point ‘no bid has been made’.

Tau has impressed over the last two seasons since making his breakthrough in the top-flight, and this season he ended the campaign as the PSL’s Footballer of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season.

Now it remains to be seen if Brighton will act on their interest in the South African attacker, although one major stumbling block could be that of a British work permit, given how strict the rules are for footballers wishing to play in England.

The Siya crew will continue to dig into the matter regarding Percy Tau’s future, but with a believed price tag of around €3.5m (around R55m), the Masandawana star could become one of South Africa’s most expensive transfers of all time if he’s to make a move overseas.

@S@ Velley thabane Until 2015, football players needed to have played in at least 75% of their country’s senior international matches over the previous two years to play in the UK. Eligibility for a GBE now depends on a national team’s FIFA ranking, as follows: Official FIFA Ranking Required % of international matches in past 2 yrs FIFA 1-10 30% and above FIFA 11-20 45% and above FIFA 21-30 60% and above FIFA 31-50 75% and above

@nazzi the second it is a problem because this is not the price they usually buy players from Africa with, you have to know the market sets it's own price and here at Africa we have set our own price it would be illogical for overseas teams to pay R55m for a player in a country that has the most expensive transfer at R12m.

3.5m shouldnt be a problem considering that neymar is 200m, every tom deeck harry is over 100m these days, tau might be missing alot of what those players have but im 200% sure he has more than half their talents and with proper coaching of europe he will add value, why should he cost less than 5% of what Dembele cost Barca, bara in mind sundowns doesnt need to sell any of their players, they don't mind spending over 10 mill for average cows like ngoma but you expect them to sell their most important player for peanuts, im tired of teaching yall these basics of evaluating a player

The only thing that will stop Tau from making the move is the strict UK work permit rules and looking at the number of games he's played of Bafana and were they are on the FIFA rankings doesn't help his case either

3.5 MILLION POUNDS.....? NEVER! NEVER! Some of us know football and follow football including transfer fees paid for certain players, why would Brighton spend so much money on a player that is yet to really prove himself on international stage? Its a big risk that 99% of EPL teams are not willing to even consider, they would rather sign a proven quality player in the international stage from the Championship, Belgium, France or Spain for that same amount. Why would you pay so much money for a 24 year old that you would probably need to loan out somewhere and you can't use than spend the same out on a player who is available immediately...No ways
