Free State Stars veteran midfielder, Paulus Masehe, explains why Kaizer Chiefs striker, Camaldine Abraw, struggles to find and convert chances.
Abraw made the switch from Stars to Chiefs ahead of the 2015/16 season. During his time at Ea Lla Koto he was only able to notch up nine goals in 44 appearances.
Abraw’s former teammate at Stars, Masehe has explained why the Togolese striker doesn’t score that many goals.
“Camaldine is a very hard worker and also has a very good technique. He’s big, good striker who brings players around him into the game,” Masehe explained to Soccer Laduma.
“He’s always looking to hold the ball. Off the ball he works very hard as well, and you can see it at training. When it comes to crosses into the box, he’s very good in dealing with those and directing them on goal… and he is explosive.
“For a man of his size, he’s very explosive. He’s very powerful. He’s got strength and aerially he’s good as well. You know, sometimes when you are a hardworking striker you don’t convert as many chances as you’d like to.
“However, with the way Chiefs are playing, he’s going to make a huge impact. Nowadays it’s not about how many goals you score as a striker. It’s about your work ethic and helping the team to become better.”
Do you want Abraw to improve his goalscoring at Chiefs or are you happy with him contributing to the side in other ways?
