Pattison: We Should Be Favourites

Wits take on Golden Arrows this evening in a Telkom Knockout Cup encounter in Johannesburg. The Students have had a mixed start to the season with defeats to Mamelodi Sundowns and Platinum Stars but their league form has been very solid.

Arrows, however, have lost four of their six league matches and are in need of a morale-boosting performance.

In edition 841 of Soccer-Laduma, it was reported that Arrows were allegedly going to be searching for a new coach if results did not start to improve (Mngqithi To Exit Arrows?).

As a result, Wits midfielder Matthew Pattison believes that his side are slight favourites going into this encounter at BidVest Stadium.

He told the Siya crew, “Ja, man, at home we’re pretty solid. Yes, we had a poor result last time out against Platinum Stars but in general we’re pretty solid. I think we should be favourites but obviously the guys have got to put the work in and get the result."

He added, "Look, we’ve still got Getaneh (Kebede) out injured but otherwise we’re fine. The last time we played Arrows they tried to play through teams more or less. We seemed to tighten up against them pretty well, so it’s more about ourselves tonight. If we play the way we know we can, we should be getting a result.”

The action gets underway from 20h00.
