Mabedi Set For First Amakhosi Test

Patrick Mabedi Will Take Charge Of Kaizer Chiefs Tonight

By Soccer Laduma - Apr 24, 2018 12:59 PM
Kaizer Chiefs’ interim head coach, Patrick Mabedi, will tonight take the lead for his first game as they go up against Golden Arrows in Durban.

Mabedi, who will have a fellow club legend, Ace Khuse, as his number two for the final three games, has worked his way through the footballing ranks, and after spells with the likes of Moroka Swallows and Cape Town All Stars, he’s now hit the big leagues.

Chiefs will be eager to bounce back from their Nedbank Cup defeat to Free State Stars on the weekend, a result that cost Steve Komphela his job, and the Malawian will no doubt have been preparing his side to face a tough opposition who are ultimately fighting for their lives at the other end of the table.

The Amakhosi still have a slim chance of clinching a CAF Champions League place if they can overtake Pirates, although that relies on them getting nothing less than three points this evening.

Mabedi will name his first Chiefs starting XI later tonight ahead of the 19h30 kickoff, and fans will be interested to see whether he opts to keep Komphela’s 3-5-2 formation or look to bring in his own style for the final three matches.

There won't be any difference with Mabedi at FAU. The approach and tactics will be the same. Remember that Komphela resigned as FAU's head coach NOT as Mabedi's friend.

I this Mabedi not the same Malawian guy who was on Swallows bench as an assistant & head coach during those multiple relegations suffered by the Beautiful butcher birds?

This is a must win coach, this game should prove who the problem was, you must also prove to the management that youre worth this vacant position at the mighty Amakhosi.

Cape Town All Stars were playing exactly like Chiefs' MDC team. I think the technical staff will do a good job.

As for the 4-2-3-1, you have to start with one forward. I'd suggest you omit 2 playas from the squad I've sent you ie replace Tshabalala and Moon with Maluleka and Ntshangase. Partner George with Katsande on the middle and let Pule and Stash make-play and rotate between Left Attacking and Central Attacking Midfield respectively, just to cause confusion among the opponents

@Masters009 Look everybody's knows which the winning team for Chiefs, Komphela was told to stop playing defensive football but he never listened. I know he will field seven or eight of the players ive mentioned, All we want to see is attacking football and Stash on the field. If Mabedi can give us that, then we'll be good. Regardless of whether we win or loose, the line up must be satisfactory and the formation must be an attacking one, we have nothing to lose.

Now Pat; Steve's downfall was his arrogance, if you aren't so arrogant then you'll take your time and reassess the former's style of play and overhaul it since it was as ineffective as it was boring and not worth any body's time. Change the formation, and either try the traditional Chiefs 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1. Suggested lineups are Gk I.Khune;Rb R.Mmphalele; Lb T.Hadebe; Lcb D.Cardoso; Rcb E.Mathoho; Rw J.Molangaone; Lw S.Tshabalala; Cdm W.Katsande; Cm H.Ekstein; Rf L.Castro and Lf R.Moon.
