Mabedi’s Chiefs Mission Accomplished
Patrick Mabedi Says Kaizer Chiefs Completed Their Mission
Patrick Mabedi says that it was mission accomplished for Kaizer Chiefs after they secured a spot in the next edition of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Amakhosi beat Ajax Cape Town 2-1 on Saturday to book their spot in the top three, joining both Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates in CAF inter-club competition for the first time ever.
It’s been over a decade since South Africa’s ‘Big Three’ finished as the top three, and they will be joined by either Maritzburg United or Free State Stars as South Africa’ representatives on the continent.
Mabedi, who was brought in as interim coach following Steve Komphela’s resignation, knows that it’s been a tough campaign, but was happy to ‘close on a high’.
He told the club’s official website, “It was not an easy season for us, so we all knew that we had to win our last game in Cape Town to close on a high. We wanted to finish in a respectful position, and we also wanted to give supporters something for travelling this entire season with us.
“It was our mission to finish as high on the log as possible.”
Chiefs were called into Naturena to undergo their last session today as their 2017/18 season officially comes to an end.
