Chiefs’ Mabedi Has A Message For Sundowns…
Patrick Mabedi Has Passed Kaizer Chiefs' Congratulations Onto Mamelodi Sundowns
Kaizer Chiefs missed out on the Absa Premiership title for the third season, but it doesn’t appear that they hold any grudges against their league rivals, Mamelodi Sundowns.
Masandawana were handed the league title last weekend as they drew 0-0 with Bloemfontein Celtic, becoming the first team to lift the trophy eight times in the PSL era.
Under Stuart Baxter’s tutelage, Chiefs managed to win two league titles in three years, however, are yet to win a single trophy since his exit, though Patrick Mabedi was impressed with how they finished the season with a 2-1 win over Ajax Cape Town.
He told the club’s official website, “After all it was a great performance from the team. We take these three points back to Johannesburg as a good close of the season.”
He went on to pay tribute to the champions and also commented on his time at the helm as interim head coach of the Amakhosi. He said, “At this stage, I wish to congratulate Mamelodi Sundowns for winning the league, and mostly, would like to appreciate the honour of holding the reigns as the interim coach for such a big brand Kaizer Chiefs.”
Chiefs have now officially begun their off-season and will regroup in a few weeks’ time as they start their preparations for the 2018/19 campaign with a new head coach as Steve Komphela’s long-term successor.
