Lokeren’s South African starlet, Ayanda Patosi, could spend up to six months on the sidelines after rupturing a cruciate ligament in his knee.
The 20-year-old had been in scintillating form for Tricolores in the early part of this season, having scored six goals for his club before an injury ruled him out of action for a few weeks, killing his dream of playing in the African Cup of Nations.
However, he returned from that injury to grab his seventh goal of the season when they played OH Leuven earlier this month and it looked as though he would be getting back to his best.
It has now been revealed that the knee injury, which he picked up after a collision with Kortrijk’s Brecht Dejaegere last month, requires surgery and will see him out for a significant amount of time.
The crew have been informed that Patosi will go in for his surgery today and should know the full extent of his lay-off within the next few days.
