Parker: It Was An Unfortunate Situation

Bafana Bafana saw their hopes of qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals disappear in front of them after losing 2-1 to Ethiopia in a crucial CAF Group A qualifier.

Bernard Parker, who put South Africa 1-0 up before the hosts equalised, netted an own goal in the second half, which gifted the East Africans the win.

The team jetted back into Johannesburg on Monday and Parker conceded to the Siya crew that the own goal was an unfortunate situation for him and for the team.

“I don't know what to say. It is really very sad for me and for the whole team. It was an unfortunate situation for me. But I thank the support from my teammates in this tough times. It is very sad,” the Kaizer Chiefs striker concluded.
