Leopards Boss: I Don’t Know Where You Get That!

Kosta Papic is thought to be contemplating leaving Black Leopards just two months after he was appointed technical advisor.

The hold up, the Siya crew has been informed, is whether Lidoda Duvha would be willing to agree to a settlement figure because the Serbian signed a two-year contract when he was brought back to SA in February.

“I don’t know where you get that,” was the response from Leopards general manager Tshifhiwa Thidiela when contacted by the crew for comment.

Our call wouldn’t have been the first he’s fielded over the last 24 hours regarding Papic’s future as there were already reports on Wednesday, and even long before that, suggesting the new man in the dugout was already packing his bags.

What adds even more authority to the story is the fact that Joel Masutha, who has previously coached Leopards, revealed earlier this week that he declined an offer from his ex-employers to have him his old job back.

Masutha has himself recently been hired at GladAfrica Championship side Pretoria Callies and his immediate task is to try guide them to the Nedbank Cup final by beating Chippa United on Saturday afternoon.

“Yes, we spoke, but they found out that I’m with Callies. I have ambitions also to take this team to the DStv Premiership. I can’t be in two places at the same time and my heart now is with Callies. But at the same time I wish Leopards well in their remaining eight games to be able to survive relegation,” Masutha told the media.

His comments also then send a message to current Leopards coach, Lehlohonolo Seema, who was already thought to be under pressure by the mere fact that the club hired someone to babysit him in Papic.

“Anyone who needs to go needs to go through me and I have not had a conversation with Papic about leaving,” Thidiela insisted.

Everything else this week suggests otherwise, but time will tell as Leopards, rooted to the foot of the league table, return to action next week Wednesday with a crucial league tie at home against Stellenbosch FC.
