National First Division log leaders Milano United have announced Former Chippa United head coach Ian Palmer as the club's Assistant Technical Advisor.
Palmer recently parted ways with the Chilli Boyz after relinquishing top spot to, ironically, Milano, having joined them in October last year. With much controversy as to the reasons for his dismissal, Palmer was in charge of 13 matches at the Philippi-based outfit, with seven wins, three draws and three losses.
“We confirmed the signing of Ian Palmer as the Assistant Technical Advisor. Palmer will work hand in hand with head coach Theo Hempe. Theo remains an integral part of the club and future plans as the head coach,” Milano United Manager Sean Ferrier told the club's official website.
According to Palmer, he had a great relationship with his previous club's boss Chippa Mpengesi as well as with the players, and that the dismissal came as a surprise to him.
“We are confident of Palmer’s extensive knowledge of NFD as well as the PSL, as it will help us with our promotion ambition to the Premier Soccer League. The club feels that with his time at Chippa and Santos, he has all the qualities acquired to help us become a force in the NFD,” said Ferrier.
