According to the Siya sources, Palmer and Chippa owner Siviwe ‘Chippa’ Mpengesi are currently ironing out minor details in Palmer’s contract.
Mpengesi subsequently confirmed to the Siya crew that talks between him and Palmer are at an advanced stage.
“Yes, it’s true that I’m speaking to Ian. Hopefully everything will be completed later today and he will join us as our new coach,” said Mpengesi.
It is not clear at this stage if Palmer will keep Tony de Nobrega as his assistant coach, should the deal be concluded, or if he will bring his own assistant.
“We’ll discuss that later, but for now we’re focussing on the head coaching job,” concluded Mpengesi.
